Abstract:   (1686 Views)
Plants with antimicrobial defense mechanism development can protect themselves against oxidative stress damage. Antioxidant enzymes such as Proxidase(POX), Catalase(CAT), Superoxide dismutase(SOD) and Poly Phenol Oxidase(PPO) participate in the active oxygen species metabolisms during the pathogen's attack. In order to identify the role of these enzymes in corn resistance to fungi Fusarium verticillioides. The experiment was done based on randomized complete block design with three replications. Silk and corn grain infection was done with fusarium suspension and after 12, 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours sampling was done and uninfected ears was considered as a control. After evaluating the gene expression CAT and SOD using Real time PCR, it was identified these two genes act together. The expression of these two genes after the infection in both sensitive and resistant genotypes increases, but the amount of expression was observed more before the infection in resistant line. The Expression of CAT and SOD Genes in resistant line was more stable than sensitive line. It was also observed that infection through the silk is more damaging than the grain in ear corn. The point when the significant changes made for the expression of CAT and SOD genes in the early hours, contact with pathogens and late infection.
